2016-2017 MVR-III Teacher of the Year

Mr. Ed Kappeler, Pacific High School teacher, was chosen as the 2016-2017 Meramec Valley R-III Teacher of the Year and applied to our South Central Regional Professional Development Center for the South Central Teacher of the Year.  We are beyond excited that Mr. Kappeler was chosen by the South Central Region as one of two South Central Teachers of the Year.  Mr. Kappeler now just has 4 short weeks to get his application together for the State Teacher of the Year….only 32 Regional Teachers of the Year (winners from all 9 regions) are now left in the pool who may apply for MO State Teacher of the Year.

Teacher of the Year facts:

  • 174 Districts in Missouri named a Teacher of the Year for their District.
  • South Central Region had 54 Teacher of the Year district names sent in to DESE from the 63 school districts that make up the South Central Region.
  • Of the 54 South Central Region Teachers’ of the Year district candidates, 27 of them applied to become the South Central Region Teacher of the Year.
  • Mr. Kappeler was one of the 27 teachers who completed the South Central Region Teacher of the Year application for this honor.
  • South Central Region picks just two teachers from the eligible applicant pool for this special honor and those two teachers may then apply for the MO State Teacher of the Year.
