1. READING TO CHILDREN IS IMPORTANT FOR MANY REASONS.

*PROMOTES ATTACHMENT

*INTRODUCES THEM TO NEW IDEAS

*INCREASES THEIR UNDERSTANDING OF VOCABULARY

*ALLOWS THEM TO BEGIN TO VISUALIZE WORDS AND PICTURES

2. THE READING CHALLENGE IS ASKING YOU TO READ AT LEAST FIVE BOOKS A DAY TO YOUR CHILD. MAKING READING FUN FOR EVERYONE IS A PART OF THE CHALLENGE. READING IN THE PARK, OR IN THE CAR AS YOU WAIT IN LINE OR ON TRIPS. READING IN A TENT (SHEET THROWN OVER A TABLE) WITH A FLASHLIGHT, OR IN THE LIBRARY ARE A FEW WAYS TO MAKE READING INTERESTING. WHAT IS A CREATIVE WAY THAT YOU AND YOUR CHILD MIGHT ENJOY READING A BOOK?

3. SIGN UP FOR THE CHALLENGE BY EMAILING GROBINSON@MVR3.K12.MO.US. WE WILL HAVE A BOOK FOR YOUR FAMILY ALONG WITH THE CHART TO FILL OUT. FOR EVERYDAY THAT YOU READ 5 BOOKS YOU COLOR THE BOOK FOR THAT DAY.

4. COMPLETE THE CHALLENGE AND TURN IN YOUR COMPLETED CHART BY SENDING A PICTURE TO YOUR PARENT EDUCATOR OR TO GROBINSON@MVR3.K12.MO AND RECEIVE ANOTHER BOOK!
