The Franklin County Health Department (FCHD) has sent out a countywide update on COVID-19 due to the rapid increase in cases for the county. Help us partner with the FCHD to minimize the spread of COVID-19 in our community.
As a reminder, if an individual is symptomatic or has been tested for COVID-19, please isolate the individual and follow your physician’s guidance. We have experienced a couple of scenarios where parents thought their child was just dealing with allergies, but it turned out to be COVID-19. In general, students should be fever/symptom free for 24 hours without fever/symptom-reducing medication prior to their return to school. Your partnership is appreciated as we maneuver through this time as a community.

District Admin will be out early checking roads. As always, if roads are safe for buses to travel then school will be in session. In the meantime, we encourage parents to have a contingency plan just in case school has to be canceled at the last minute. Be safe, and we hope to see all of our students & staff tomorrow.

This is a message from Meramec Valley R-III School District for Monday, November 11th: We will dismiss students in grades 5-12 at 12 p.m. today, and we will dismiss elementary students at 1:10 p.m. today due to inclement weather conditions. SACC and Doris Hoffman Early Learning Center will close at 3 p.m. today. Afternoon Veterans activities have been canceled for the day.

MVR-III update on the winter weather advisory that our area is under until tomorrow afternoon. Here’s the plan based on what we know at this time:
1. Currently, the rain isn’t supposed to change to snow until after the morning commute.
2. Once the snow arrives, accumulation is expected to be limited to grassy areas with little to no accumulation on roads.
3. The winter weather advisory is currently set to end around dismissal time.
Given what we know at this point, we expect to be in session tomorrow and we think we should be able to attend a full day.
Of course, we will be up early checking roads and the updated forecast. If anything changes that would keep us from having school, we’ll let you know as early as we can. Don't forget to wear your red, white, and blue for Veterans Day.

In effort to keep our parents informed, we want to let you know that the Franklin County Sheriff's Department contacted Robertsville Elementary this afternoon to request the school use their "Lock Out" procedures due to a non-school related situation in the Robertsville area. The matter lasted about 15 minutes due to the Sheriff's Department's quick actions. Officials lifted the "Lock Out" allowing the school to resume their normal activities. We appreciate Franklin County Sheriff Department's notification and brick response to the matter. A “Lockout” is put in place to keep everyone indoors, keep all exterior doors locked, increase situational awareness, but school business should continue as usual.

Technology is not just about what tools are provided, but how those tools are used. Instructional technology expands the learning environment, engages students, and enables them to create, communicate, collaborate, and think critically. Coleman Elementary first grades learned how to use their device safely thanks to a lesson provided by the Technology Department. Pacific Intermediate fifth grade students created a blog using the writing process. By using the writing process, students went through several distinct steps to develop and expand their ideas. "Technology is just a tool. In terms of getting the kids working together and motivating them." Bill Gates

Governor Parson has issued a proclamation declaring this week "Parent and Family Involvement in Education Week". This week is to recognize that involvement in a child's education is a major factor in determining success in school, regardless of the socio-economic status, race, or ethnic background of the family, or the education level of the parents. Great ways to get involved in your child's education is through Parents as Teachers program, joining a PTO, Band Boosters, volunteering to be a Watch DOG Dad, and attending parent conferences. #MVNation

Safety First.. A new year brings changes to routes & ridership. School buses may run slow the first few days of school as students are learning where and when to board the appropriate bus. Your understanding is appreciated as our bus drivers take a little extra time to establish bus routines. Our Transportation Dept. will be monitoring and adjusting capacity, routes, and times as needed over the next few weeks. Your patience is appreciated as our focus is on getting students to and from school in a safe and efficient manner. As always, we encourage citizens to watch for buses and be sure to stop while they are loading and unloading students.
