Hello September

~ From the Desk of Dr. Sladek ~

September 2020 is here and we are rocking and rolling into this new school year.  Our students have come ready to learn, on the virtual platform and in-seat!  We have learned school routines, COVID protocols and focused on continual reminders of all of the above. We are learning a whole new “NEW” and luckily we all get to do it together so it doesn’t feel so scary. As we continue to settle in, I would encourage you to talk with your student daily just doing a quick check-in, how are they feeling? What do they wish would be different or better? Etc. These self-checks are important for us but most importantly listening to them and their emotions as we grow through these times is going to be crucial in how we support every one where they need it most! Please let me know if there is any you can just voice to me so that I can help!

Class Dojo!

I am so excited that we have taken the step as an entire building to use Class Dojo as our common communication platform. This app/website simplifies the communication process and streamlines it for parents and teachers. It is an easy to use app even if you have multiple students. We are close to have ALL staff members connected to class so that way if there is someone other than the classroom teacher you need to contact it is a quick message/text away from reaching out. If you have NOT connected to our Class Dojo please use this link: https://www.classdojo.com/invite/?s=4eece7bdf64aa62934edbb95

Or reach out to for help and any staff member will happily get you all set up!  Class Dojo is a more private and safe platform to share pictures and Truman Elementary information than the other social media platforms, which is a big reason why we are jumping right into this program.

What will you #BE in September?

At home try and use the districts 8 pillars of success language so that your child knows the expectations in and out of school OR focus on one of the characteristics as a family and see what kind of results you get!
