Energy Production at Truman Elementary School
In the Spring of 2015, Meramec Valley R-III School District took a leap into the future of energy with the addition of seven (7) solar arrays comprised of 588 solar panels each rated at 305 Watts. Mike Hornitschek of StraightUp Solar, the local Missouri solar company that helped to plan, design, install, and test the systems also said a few words, “From this day onward, Meramec Valley R-III Schools can proudly announce that they are producing over 220 megawatt-hours (MWh) of electricity every year. The electricity produced from these solar arrays will eliminate more than a quarter million pounds of carbon dioxide (CO2) every year by offsetting a portion of the coal-fired energy that is generated and used by the majority of electric grid users in Missouri.”
