Dear Truman Elementary Families,
MVR-III was notified today that a Truman Elementary School employee has tested positive for COVID-19. This employee is currently on quarantine and we are keeping this employee in our thoughts during this time. We believe any potential exposure would have been limited to the first-grade classroom. For community awareness, this employee has not had any contact with students since Friday, July 10, 2020. We have been in contact with Franklin County and St. Louis County Health Departments. As a precaution, the district is notifying families and employees of this matter. Because of school and health requirements, the name of the employee cannot be shared.
Individuals who might be affected because of this situation, have been or will be directly contacted. This letter is to advise you of the situation and does not require any action on your part. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services (DHSS) have advised that all persons who experience symptoms of COVID-19 should contact their healthcare providers. Individuals may also reach out to the Franklin County Health Department (636-583-7300) or the Missouri DHSS (877-435-8411). As a reminder, many protocols are in place for regular disinfecting of our classrooms and high-touch surfaces. However, as an added precaution, Truman Elementary will receive an additional deep cleaning and sanitization prior to the return of students on Monday.
Also, starting Monday, July 20th, all summer school employees, district-wide will begin wearing face coverings when within 6 feet of students or other staff. Bus drivers will also be required to wear a face covering when students are loading and unloading buses. The district was already moving toward this requirement prior to learning of this situation as it will help us assess the challenges associated with employees wearing face coverings should that be necessary when we return to school in August.
We urge all members of our community to follow guidelines in place by the local, state, and federal health authorities regarding social distancing and proper handwashing.
Be assured that the Meramec Valley R-III School District will continue to take necessary precautions to ensure the health and safety of our school community.
