Congratulations to Zitzman Elementary 4th grader Kurtis Scroggs for winning the 2025 East Central College Regional Spelling Bee! After first earning the title of Meramec Valley District Champion, Kurtis went on to compete at regionals last weekend. After 15 additional rounds with the top two spellers, he was named co-champion alongside a 6th grader from Warrenton. This is only the second time in the history of the regional spelling bee that there have been co-champions — and both times, a Meramec Valley student was part of the historic moment!
