Kindergarten Field Trip Last week, our friends had their first field trip at the Magic House. Lots of imagining, building, investigating, and learning went on. But most importantly, they had FUN!

Last day of Homecoming Spirit Week.
Colors of the Wind Day
Each grade was assigned a color to wear.
Such a fun week of celebrating throughout the district.

Homecoming Parade 2023 was a great success. Our staff and Coleman Steam club put together a great "101 Dalmatians" float. They were definitely "spotted" in the parade.

Yesterday was High School Musical Jersey Day. Love to see everyone supporting their favorite teams.

This Friday, Oct. 13, is an early release day for students. Secondary will release at 12 PM and elementary at 1:10 PM. The Homecoming Parade begins at 2:30 PM and the PHS Tailgate starts at 5 PM. Super Smokers BBQ and Love at First Bite Tamales food trucks, PHS Band Booster Walking Tacos, the National Guard obstacle course, and children's bounce houses will all be on site. See you there before the game, #MVNation!

A few weeks ago, Coleman Elementary had a four-legged visitor that wanted to join in the excitement of morning drop-off. The staff of Coleman took him in, giving him some attention and a little food and water. With the help of Pacific Animal Hospital, staff were able to contact the owner and Jax was on his way home. Jax’s owner was very appreciative, making a donation to the school to help with students’ lunch balances. Sometimes opportunities to be a Difference Maker come upon us unexpectedly! #MVNation

Homecoming Spirit Week Day 2
Lilo & Stitch Hawaiian Day

Great First Day of Homecoming Spirit Week. Students were all decked out in their pajamas.

Yesterday, 2nd Grade had a beautiful day to enjoy Shaw's Nature Reserve. They tried to identify animals based on tracks and animal parts, looked at different animal furs, and explored the prairie looking for bugs! A few even stumbled upon animal scat and the guides were helpful in identifying the animal. 2nd grade has been reading Little House on the Prairie books and talking about how Laura wrote her Personal Narrative in the form of many books. It was really cool to see what life would have looked like.

Homecoming Spirit Week is next week. Here are the themes for each day.

Coleman's 3rd and 4th grade students are working on reading 5 award nominee books (Mark Twain or Great Kids Can Read nominee books). Students must write a book review for each book to earn their invite for a party in March. So far, 18 students have read at least one book and many of those 18 have read multiple nominee books! Way to go third and fourth grade! Keep up the reading and you'll reviewing!

Dr. Schwierjohn visits with Pacific High School Student Council officers for this Homecoming edition of “Tell Me Something Good” Tuesday. Take a moment to hear about upcoming events around #MVNation !

First grade had perfect weather for their field trip to Shaw’s Nature Reserve on Friday. The kids really enjoyed the walk and learning how we can use our five senses in nature.

Students in 1st Grade Music have been learning about rhythms. After clapping the rhythms, they read "Chicka Chicka Boom Boom" and figured out the rhythm of the words using ta and titi. Students realized clapping "titi titi ta ta" was the same as clapping to "Chicka Chicka Boom Boom".

Earlier this week, we had very special guests join us at Coleman Elementary. Students had the opportunity to invite grandparents to join them at school for an afternoon of fun. We appreciate everyone who was able to attend.

Today, the students and staff celebrated Heroes Day at Coleman Elementary. Local policemen, firemen, and paramedics were invited to eat lunch and spend quality time with our students at recess. We really don’t know who had more fun. This day was about developing relationships, celebrating, and thanking these individuals for the sacrifice they make every day to keep us safe. You all are Difference Makers!!
