First grade finished Unit 3 in CKLA. In celebration, students dressed up to celebrate their unit on "Different Lands, Similar Stories”. There were three sections each containing similar stories from different lands. These included Cinderella, The Girl with the Red Slippers, and Billy Beg. In every story they lost a shoe and ended up getting married. The End!

Lots of fun this evening at McTeacher Night. So many friends and families visiting. We raised a little over $500. Thank you Pacific McDonalds.

Before heading into the #MVNation Fall Break next week, "share a slice of life." Give blood at the Coleman Elementary Blood Drive this Friday, Nov. 22, from 1:30-5:30 PM. Visit RedCrossBlood.org and enter ColemanES to schedule an appointment.

3rd Grade had a great performance this evening. Students had fun entertaining their families with their silly songs. Songs about tongue twisters, jokes, cows that say bow-wow, and a fun rendition of LOL to the YMCA, had people dancing in their seats. Do you know why gorillas have big nostrils? Because they have big fingers.

In celebration of Veteran's Day, our students and staff gathered for a special assembly. Students learned about the history of Veterans Day, and we honored the Veteran's in attendance. Thank you for your service.

2nd graders in Mrs. Canada's class have been using the scientific method and observing an ongoing experiment in their unit on matter.
They made a hypothesis on which bread would create the most amount of mold. Students were split into 3 groups. One group washed their hands with soap and water, one with sanitizer, and another had dirty hands. Each group touched a slice of bread afterwards. The 4th slice of bread students voted on. Students voted to wipe the piece of bread on the floor after the custodians cleaned the cafeteria floor. Students observed and analyzed each slice of bread for 3 weeks. Students took field notes and recorded their observations.

Coleman Warriors recently completed a service learning project for participants of the Greater St. Louis Honor Flight. Honor Flight is a not-for-profit organization that celebrates the veterans of our country by giving them a Day of Honor, which includes a flight to Washington D.C. Veterans tour the memorials, enjoy comradery, and are welcomed back after their flight home. To show appreciation for their service to our country, Coleman students wrote personalized letters and made pictures that were given to them during mail call on their return flight. The Veterans on this trip included members of the Korean and Vietnam Wars (photos courtesy of gslhonorflight.org). #MVNation

Our thoughts are with each of you as we navigate the flooding affecting our community. To prioritize the safety of our students and staff, the Meramec Valley R-III School District will be closed on Thursday, November 7th, and Friday, November 8th.
During this challenging time, we encourage our staff who are able or willing to volunteer to lend a hand to neighbors, help with sandbagging, or join cleanup efforts once the waters recede. Together, our community will emerge stronger by supporting one another.

Don’t Forget - Set clocks back one hour tonight, and exercise your right to vote on Tuesday, Nov. 5th! #MVNation

Warrior Spotlight!
Rowan pushed in the chair's at the end of library without being asked or having the chairs job. He is such a good leader!

There is no school for MVR-III students tomorrow, Friday, Nov. 1, as staff have a professional learning day.

What a great day of fun and learning 3rd grade students had as they wrapped up their Unit 2 in Reading, with an Animal Classification Escape Room. Students matched mammals with their habitat, sorted animals by their classification name, identified animals by their footprints, read and answered questions about a zoo keeper, and classified animals by what they eat. The kids had a blast and really enjoyed being zoologists!
