MVR-III staff and students enjoyed the 8th Annual Special Education Field Day this morning. Established for special needs students across the district, the 2025 edition was coordinated by co-chairs Cathy Bearden, Stacy Kloeppel, Allison Daves, Jordan Garlik, and Kassie Nowak. This inclusive event is a community effort made possible through the hard work and assistance of our staff, high school students, and sponsors. Coleman Elementary Kindergarten & 1st grade students had a special guest reader this week. Brooke Mizner, former Coleman student & current PHS Junior, came to read her award-winning story, "Mr. Prickles and Whiskers: An Unlikely Friendship." Brooke attends Four Rivers and is enrolled in the Education Rising Program, where she is currently studying to be a school teacher. The story that she wrote and illustrated was entered into the Ed-Rising State Competition in March, and she won first place. This summer, Brooke will travel to Florida, where her book will compete at the National Level. Congratulations Brooke on your great success. Weeks ago, several students in Mrs. Signaigo's class wrote persuasive letters to our principal Dr. Quanz. Asking him to come teach their class a lesson. They must have been very persuasive. On Thursday morning, Dr. Quanz came and taught “Measuring in Yards” to the class! Thank you Dr. Quanz for always stepping up to the plate for our kids.

📢 Prop M for MVR-III – No Tax Increase Bond 📢 is on the April 8th ballot and will allow MVR-III to build a net zero ready school, lowering energy costs and serving as an educational tool to teach students about sustainability practices, all while potentially saving money on utility bills to be allocated to other facilities across the district: 🧱Like the 2021 Zitzman addition, the new middle school would be built with ICF (Insulated Concrete Form) walls that provide superior energy efficiency and increased strength & durability. ⬇️The Zitzman addition is using 39% less energy per square foot than the national average for K-12 school buildings. ⚡Energy usage at ZE is 34% less than the previous structure, which is a direct energy cost savings to MVR-III! 🗳️ Prop M is a NO Tax Increase investment in our students and schools. This week, the Coleman Library hosted a Reading Party for 18 of our 3rd and 4th graders. To earn an invitation, students had to read and submit a detailed book review for four Denny O'Neil Graphic Novel Nominee books and/or four Mark Twain Nominee books. These books are selected annually by the Missouri Association of School Librarians. Great work Coleman Warriors!

Coleman Elementary 4th graders recently visited the Sheldon Concert Hall in St. Louis. The interactive experience, “Drums & Dances of Africa," introduced the djembe drum, sounds, movements, & cultural traditions of West Africa. Students & teachers had fun visiting the historic venue, participating in the stage experience, & learning about other cultures. #MVNation #GrowingTogether
