Nike Elementary first graders recently experienced a week at Camp Comprehension, filled with camping-themed stations & book readings. Students worked on comprehension activities that mark good readers, such as asking questions while reading, retelling the story, visualizing what is happening, making connections, and talking about how characters might feel. #MVNation

Nike had a wonderful turnout for the American Red Cross Blood Drive yesterday. Thank you to the wonderful Nike family members who showed up to donate! The Nike Blood Drive leaders, some third and fourth graders, did a wonderful job working the Blood Drive.

Last week, 3rd Grade made their journey to Jefferson City. They had a busy schedule while at the State Capitol. They arrived to take a tour of the Capitol which included being introduced on the House floor by Rep. Banderman. Rep. Banderman took the class to the Whisper Room and then all the way to the top of the Capitol Building. They enjoyed lunch in the Govenor's Garden and toured the mansion. Before heading back, they enjoyed Central Dairy ice cream.
They had a long day but they had fun and got a chance to see what they have been learning about all year. #MVNation

The Book Blast is going strong as we approach these last few days of the event. The student with the highest dollar amount of contributions from each grade level will be awarded a $100 Book Blast shopping spree. On top of that, the student with the highest dollar amount of contributions in the school will be awarded an additional $100 shopping spree. So, one student winner will be going home with a total of $200 in Book Blast shopping sprees!
4th Grade has been selling popsicles all week for students to enjoy at recess. They will sell them until we run out #MVNation
