The Nike Elementary staff enjoyed a sweet surprise from the Woot Woot Cart today—an ice cream treat to end the day! It was a small gesture that brought lots of smiles and was the perfect way to wrap up a busy day!
This time of year, the weather seems to have a mind of its own! March is definitely a toss-up when it comes to whether Nike Elementary students will get to go outside for recess. Our students enjoy those outdoor recess days so much! We are looking forward to more nice weather, getting outside, and enjoying some fresh air together. 🌤️🌳
Students and staff at Nike Elementary gather at the beginning of each month for a special assembly to celebrate the hard work and achievements of our students. During this time, we recognize students for their efforts in the classroom as well as special awards such as best cafeteria manners and best hallway manners.
The assembly is led by Dr. Tollison along with our student leaders, who help guide the program and share important messages with their peers. They also introduce and discuss our Word of the Month. For March, the word is collaboration. Collaboration means working together with others, sharing ideas, and helping one another to reach a common goal. It reminds us that when we support each other and work as a team, we can accomplish great things.
We are so proud of our Nike Scouts and all the hard work they put in each day. Way to go, Scouts! 👏🎉

Mrs. Gann’s second grade class kicked off the week of Read Across America by starting their mornings with a special read-aloud. Student teacher Ms. O’Neal led the class in reading a book together each morning, creating a fun and engaging start to the day. The students truly enjoyed the story, and the conversations and discussions that followed made the experience even more meaningful. What a great way to celebrate reading and build a love of books! 📚✨
This Thursday, March 12, is Spring Picture Day at Nike Elementary! 📸
Make sure your student wears their snazzy shirts and outfits for the day. All students will be photographed.
We can’t wait to see all the great smiles! 😊

During the month of March, our 1st grade students are participating in a March Madness Book Challenge! To kick things off, they celebrated “Starbooks Day,” where students had the chance to sample many of the books they will be reading throughout the month.
Some of the books are just for fun, while others help review important skills and subjects they have been learning in class. Students especially enjoy their “Starbooks” drinks and treats that go along with the activity!
What a fun and creative way to encourage reading and learning. Way to go, First Grade! 📚⭐🥤

Ms. Chasen's First grade class is learning about how clouds form! ☁️
They did a fun experiment using hot water and ice to see how it works. The students watched as the warm air rose and cooled, forming a “cloud” right in front of their eyes! 🤯
There were lots of excited reactions when the cloud appeared. Science is so much fun when you can see it happen! 🌥️

At Nike Elementary, our Pre-K classroom free play centers are a special time when children explore, create, and learn through hands-on experiences. Each center is thoughtfully designed to spark curiosity and build important early learning skills such as problem-solving, communication, fine motor development, and teamwork. Learning truly comes to life through play!
Did you know we have one Pre-K classroom at Nike Elementary and we currently have openings for this year and next year? With small class sizes, your little one will receive plenty of one-on-one attention from our amazing teachers, Ms. Katrina and Ms. Natalie. They create a warm, nurturing environment where every child feels seen, supported, and encouraged to grow.
Even better — tuition may be free if your family qualifies! We encourage you to call and learn more about eligibility options.
If you are interested, don’t wait! The class will continue to fill as we get closer to next school year, and we want to make sure your child’s spot is saved.
To get more information and start the enrollment process, please call the Doris Hoffman Early Learning Center at 636-271-1464. Be sure to let them know you are interested in the Nike Elementary location.
We would love to welcome your little one to our Nike family! 💜
