Nike Elementary welcomed our newest Kindergarteners at Open House in March, and what a great time it was!
Students were greeted by Dr. Tollison and had the chance to explore a Kindergarten classroom, visit staff from the transportation office and tour a school bus, check out the cafeteria and library, and meet our counselor, nurse, office staff, and SACC (School-Aged Child Care) team.
We also had our Pre-K program and the Doris Hoffman Early Learning Center on-site to sign children up for Pre-K screening and to share information about the Pre-K program for next school year.
Students enjoyed a fun scavenger hunt with visual clues to help them locate important areas around the building—and they even earned a yummy prize at the end! They also stopped by the photo op station to capture some fun memories along the way.
We are so excited to welcome our new Kindergarteners to Nike Elementary next year!
If you have an incoming Kindergartener—or know someone who does and lives in the Nike Elementary attendance area—please encourage them to call the school and get registered for the upcoming school year. Registering early helps create a smoother transition for students and allows us to better prepare for a great year ahead.
If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to call us at 636-271-1444!

Ms. Willmeno’s 4th grade class recently lit up learning with a fun Glow Day! ✨ Students used highlighters to find text evidence and answer questions. Once they highlighted their answers, the lights went off—and their work began to glow! It was an exciting, hands-on way to make reading skills shine!

Student teacher Ms. O'Neal’s 2nd grade class had a hands-on math adventure today! 📏✨
Students have been learning how to measure to the nearest yard, and they put their skills to the test by using sticks to measure different spots and items around the hallways. From counting inches to figuring out how many yards they make, these young mathematicians were hard at work!
Working in pairs, students helped each other practice and problem-solve—making learning both fun and collaborative. Way to go, 2nd grade! 👏

Thank you to all voters who participated in the April 7 election and took the time to consider Prop S.
On Tuesday, the unofficial results for Prop S, the proposed no tax rate change bond issue for the Meramec Valley R-III School District, showed 56.5% voter approval, falling short of the 57.14% required for passage by 22 votes.
This outcome means we will not be moving forward at this time with plans to construct a new middle school or address the identified facility needs across our schools, including important safety and security upgrades.
The Board of Education and administration remain committed to exploring options to address the district’s facility needs. We will continue engaging with community members and staff as we determine next steps and evaluate future solutions.
We appreciate your continued support of our students, staff, and schools.

The Nike Elementary staff were visited by the Woot Woot Cart this week and enjoyed a warm treat of popcorn and a drink! 🍿
Everyone appreciated the thoughtful surprise and enjoyed taking a few moments to relax and enjoy the treat. Little gestures like this help brighten the day and remind our staff how much they are appreciated for all they do for our Nike Scouts!

Nike students kicked off April with our monthly assembly, focused on our word of the month: critical thinking! We talked about how critical thinking means making smart choices, solving problems, and thinking carefully before acting.
Our student helpers brought this to life with a fun skit, and students gave a thumbs up or thumbs down to decide if the choices were the right ones. It was a great way to get everyone involved and thinking!
We also celebrated students who earned Positive Office Referrals for showing strong character at school. We are so proud of our Nike students! 👏

🧭🗺️ Our 2nd graders in Mrs. Calvird’s and Mrs. Gann’s classes have been learning how to read maps using a compass rose and a map legend!
To put their new skills into action, students created their own towns and designed maps based on what they’ve learned. From parks and schools to roads and rivers, their creativity and attention to detail really shined!
Way to go, 2nd grade! We have some very talented and artistic students at Nike! 🎨👏

Did you know Nike Elementary has a Pre-K classroom? We’re so lucky to offer this opportunity right in our building!
Ms. Katrina and Ms. Natalie create a warm, welcoming space where children learn through play, exploration, and hands-on experiences. With smaller class sizes, your child will receive plenty of one-on-one attention.
Even better — tuition may be FREE if your family qualifies!
Interested? Don’t wait—spots fill quickly! Call the Doris Hoffman Early Learning Center at 636-271-1464 and mention the Nike Elementary location.
We’d love to welcome your little one to our Nike family! 💜

Ms. McPherson’s 3rd grade class is learning all about facts and opinions! ✏️ Students compared the positives and negatives of being a sailor and practiced writing paragraphs to share their thoughts. With the sunny weather, we took our learning outside to enjoy some fresh air while working on this activity. ☀️📚
