MVR-III District Teacher of the Year

MVR-III 2019-2020 District Teacher of the Year

The Meramec Valley R-III School District (MVR-III) has announced that Ms. Meagan Thate has been selected as the District-Level Teacher of the Year.

Ms. Thate started her career in the MVR-III School District in 2010 as a first-grade teacher at Zitzman Elementary School.  She earned a bachelor’s degree from Clarke University in Dubuque, Iowa and earned two master’s degrees from Missouri Baptist University.

Ms. Thate says, “I appreciate the support our administrative team gives to teachers.  This allows me to implement creative, hands-on learning experiences in the classroom and develop a love for learning. The support deepens my passion for educating students.” She wants her students to see that she genuinely loves being their teacher.  “I am proud of their hard work and can’t wait to see where they go in life.”

The announcement coincides with the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) process.  Ms. Thate’s District level Teacher of the Year recognition allows her to apply for the South Central Regional Teacher of the Year. The major purpose of the Teacher of the Year program is to recognize the contributions of the classroom teacher. Teacher quality and effectiveness is the most important school-based factor impacting student learning. No one person has a greater impact on the education of a child than does the teacher who creates the learning environment where children flourish and grow. The mission of the Missouri Teacher of the Year Program is to honor, promote and celebrate excellence in the teaching profession.

The Meramec Valley R-III School District recognizes and congratulates Ms. Thate on being selected as the District-Level Teacher of the Year!
