Public School Districts and Charter Schools must report revenue, expenditures, and disbursements, and update the reports at least quarterly beginning with the fiscal year 2019-2020*. This information will be updated each quarter after Board of Education approval of the finance report. *As mandated by RSMO 160.066, passed during the 2018 legislative session. Districts and Charter Schools must post a searchable expenditure and revenue document detailing actual income, expenditures, and disbursements for the current calendar or fiscal year on the district or school website or other form of social media. This financial data shall remain accessible and searchable for a minimum of ten years.

The Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) has provided guidelines related to this reporting, suggesting the information could be provided by posting a year-to-date general ledger and monthly bills. The posting shall contain only information that is a public record or that is not confidential or otherwise protected from public disclosure under state and federal law, such as personal information related to payroll.
