Phillips 66 Awards Grant to MVR-III

Phillips 66 announced it will contribute $10,000 to the Meramec Valley R-III School District to support families impacted by COVID-19.  The donation to Meramec Valley is designated to the district’s Weekend Backpack Program and Back to School Fair and is part of a total of $60,000 that Phillips 66 is donating to entities across the state of Missouri.

"Meramec Valley R-III School District is comforted knowing that a large corporation like Phillips 66 is supporting schools in many areas across Missouri,” said Director of Communications Ketina Armstrong. “This donation will provide additional food, school supplies, and clothing for students and families affected by the COVID-19 crisis. Phillips 66’s contribution to local communities is an example of the American spirit of togetherness.”

The Weekend Backpack Program and the Back to School Fair are managed by a group of  MVR-III volunteers who support students and families in need. This donation will have a significant impact on the district’s ability to meet that need.

“The pandemic has impacted every aspect of our lives and finding ways to assist those in need in the communities where our employees live and work is more important than ever,” said Derick Gipson, area supervisor for Phillips 66 Midstream in Missouri. “We are fortunate to be in a position to support organizations in Missouri that are providing food to those who might be struggling at this time.”

MVR-III Superintendent, Dr. John Mulford, noted, “We are extremely humbled by the generosity of Mr. Garland and Phillips 66. During a time when the economy looks bleak, they have chosen to step up and give back to the communities they serve. We are grateful to be a conduit through which their generosity can flow to our families.”
