Nomination Procedure

Each school building will nominate a Building Teacher of the Year. Based on staff nominations, individuals in that building will select a Building Teacher of the Year. Each Building Teacher of the Year will become a candidate for the MVR-III District Teacher of the Year. The MVR-III Teacher of the Year will be advanced as a candidate for Missouri Regional Teacher of the Year.

PROCESS:

  1. Any MVR-III staff may nominate a certificated Pre-K-12 teacher, career technical educator, counselor, or library media specialist for the Building Teacher of the Year.

    1. Candidates should be dedicated teachers who are exceptionally skilled at their craft. They should have the respect and admiration of their colleagues, students, and parents, as well as the ability to inspire the love of learning in their students.

    2. Candidates should have demonstrated the ability to significantly impact student learning regardless of ability level or background of students.

  2. All Building Teacher of the Year nominations are submitted using a Google nomination form.

  3. Building and district administrators vote for the Building Teacher of the Year

  4. Each Building Teacher of the Year will be announced in February/March, and will be recognized at the April Board of Education Meeting.

  5. Each Building Teacher of the Year interested in moving forward to the District Teacher of the Year will complete a short questionnaire.

  6. Final candidates will be interviewed in April by an administrator, instructional coach, and past MVR-III Teacher of the Year candidates.

  7. The MVR-III Teacher of the Year will be announced in April/May, and will be recognized at the May Board of Education Meeting.
