Trauma Informed Schools Professional Training

In pursuant to Missouri Senate Bill 638, Section 161.1050, the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) has established the “Trauma-Informed Schools Initiative.” September 16, 2019 Meramec Valley R-III teachers and staff completed Trauma Informed Schools Training.  The training was presented by South Central Regional Professional Development Center.  Purpose of the training was to provide the following:

  • Awareness
  • Perspective
  • Attitudes
  • Skills Development
  • Change and Integration

Families needing support with trauma are recommended to contact the school based counselor for resources with dealing with student trauma.  Other resources include National Child Traumatic Stress Network (NCTSN) http://www.nctsn.org/, National Center on Trauma Informed Care (NCTIC) www.nasmhpd.org/TA/nctic.aspx, and Compass Health services on Behavioral Health https://compasshealthnetwork.org/services/behavioral-health/.
