The Meramec Valley R-III School District is proud to celebrate Board of Education member Mary Clasby-Agee, who has been named the South Central Friend of Education Honoree through the Missouri Association of School Administrators (MASA).
The Friend of Education Award recognizes individuals who have made significant contributions to education in their communities or across the state. Each year, one honoree is selected from each of the eight MASA Regions. Recipients must currently be non-educators, though they may have previously worked in education.
Since joining the district in 1974, Mary has served as a transformative educator, administrator, and community leader. Her journey began in the classroom as a 9th-grade English teacher and department chair, eventually leading her into administrative roles as an assistant middle school principal and the district’s first Professional Development Director. In this foundational role, she built the infrastructure for teacher support from the ground up, ensuring educators had the training necessary to provide high-quality instruction.
Clasby-Agee also helped develop the district’s first comprehensive writing assessment to elevate academic standards and contributed to the successful writing of the district’s A+ grant. In addition, she founded the Jerry Agee Scholarship Fund, which provides financial assistance to PHS seniors pursuing careers in education.
In 2019, Clasby-Agee continued her service to the district by joining the MVR-III Board of Education. As a board member, she has remained focused on strengthening curriculum, supporting effective policy development, and advancing opportunities for students. She also contributed to the team that earned the 2024 MSBA Governance Team Award!
A proud mother and grandmother, Clasby-Agee’s legacy of service continues to impact generations of students and educators across MVR-III.
