A million reasons to celebrate at Zitzman Elementary and with faint photos in the background.

Zitzman Elementary students, staff, and community members recently came together to celebrate an extraordinary milestone—surpassing one million minutes of reading through Beanstack. With a final total of 1,017,496 minutes and counting, the achievement represents far more than time spent with books. It reflects a shared commitment to learning and growth!

Reaching this goal was the result of consistent effort and enthusiasm from students who set reading goals, tracked their progress, and encouraged one another along the way. Classrooms were filled with excitement as students watched the total climb.

We are also proud to celebrate a successful service learning project in partnership with Read-A-Thon and Heifer International. Through their hard work, students set reading goals, read for a cause, raised donations, and helped provide farm animals for families in need.

To celebrate these accomplishments, Zitzman Elementary hosted a schoolwide event, “A Million Reasons to Celebrate!,” on May 1. The day was filled with energy, laughter, and memorable experiences for students. From a “million bubbles” activity to a petting zoo, the celebration brought joy and excitement to every corner of the school.

One of the most meaningful parts of the day was the “Stories & Snacks” station. Community members and Pacific High School students joined Zitzman learners in small groups to read together, share conversations, and enjoy popcorn. These simple moments created powerful connections, showing students that reading is not only an individual activity but also a way to build relationships and community.

At Zitzman Elementary, there’s truly a million reasons to celebrate!
