The Meramec Valley R-III School District was recently recognized at the St. Louis Community College School District Awards event for the district’s success in helping students earn dual diplomas.
Dr. Quinn Flexsenhar, Director of Alternative Programs, represented Pacific High School and MVR-III at the event, where the district received recognition for having the overall highest average savings per dual enrollment student at $12,761.96 per student. The district was also recognized for helping students collectively save between $200,001 and $500,000 in college costs compared to the price of completing the same credit hours at a four-year Missouri public college or university.
Through the district’s partnership with St. Louis Community College, MVR-III provides up to 12 incoming juniors each year the opportunity to participate in the Early College Program while continuing to attend high school. Students in the program can work toward earning an associate degree while also completing the requirements for high school graduation. The district covers tuition costs for participating students, with families responsible only for the cost of books.
“Our program continues to create meaningful opportunities for students to accelerate their education, reduce future college debt, and gain valuable college experience while still in high school,” said Dr. Quinn Flexsenhar, Director of Alternative Programs.
This year, 11 PHS seniors will graduate with both a high school diploma and an associate degree through the program.
