The Meramec Valley R-III School District sincerely appreciates the parents, community members, and staff who shared their feedback this summer on the facilities priorities survey.
During an August Board workshop, the MVR-III Board of Education thoroughly reviewed the survey results to guide the district's future planning. In direct response to stakeholder input, the Board modified the priorities of a proposed bond package and voted 7-0 to place Prop K for Kids on the November 3rd ballot.
Strong Support for District Improvements
The summer survey results showed strong backing for addressing long-term district needs without increasing tax rates:
Bond Proposal Support: 64.5% of respondents indicated support for a zero-tax-rate-change bond proposal, while 23.1% indicated opposition.
Key Priorities Identified: Community members highlighted several critical focus areas, including maintenance and repairs, safety and security, energy efficiency, student needs, and transportation.
What Prop K Covers
Guided by the survey results, the updated Prop K package focuses directly on the priorities requested by our taxpayers and staff:
School Maintenance & Repairs at All Schools: Necessary updates and improvements at every school across the district.
Safety & Security at All Schools: Upgrading every school with modern, keyless security entry systems.
New Middle School: Construction of a new middle school to better serve our students.
Transportation: Dedicated funding to replace aging school buses in the district fleet that have logged over 200,000 miles.
