Carrie

Dear MVR-III School Families and Community,

Please allow me to take a moment to introduce myself as your 2021-22 Interim Superintendent! My name is Dr. Carrie Schwierjohn (pronounced swear-john or call me Dr. Carrie!), and I am truly honored to serve you this year as the MVR-III Interim Superintendent. For the past three years I have been working alongside our teachers, principals, and board of education as your Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum and Instruction. In this new role, my goal is to continue to guide the district to success as your partner in learning for each of our students.

This is my 22nd year serving students in public education, and I bring to MVR-III a wide range of experiences as an elementary classroom teacher, middle school assistant principal, elementary principal, district-level director of assessment, and most recently as your assistant superintendent. Throughout these experiences, I have learned so much from students, parents, and staff about the power of relationships, innovation, and high expectations in helping each student reach their full potential. I am thrilled to be able to continue the important work and progress set forth by our MVR-III Board of Education in our district strategic plan, and to work with all stakeholders to achieve these goals.

Even more important than getting to know my professional background, it is important that all members of the MVR-III community know who I am as a person. I have been married to my husband Robert for 21 years, who is also a  middle school science teacher and coach. We have 2 wonderful teenagers who keep us busy. Ian will be attending William Woods University in the fall running cross country and track, and Lauryn will be a high school sophomore. I was born and raised in the St. Louis area, so after college my husband and I  returned to this area to be close to our family and friends. Throughout my childhood, my parents instilled the importance of education, high expectations, and schools being the launching pad for success in each of our futures. I am a first-generation college graduate in my family, but my father and mother showed me that hard work, perseverance, and serving others are the real-life keys to each person’s success.

Throughout my time at MVR-III, our students, families, and community have made it clear that we value our children and our schools. With the recent passage of the Prop 1 no-tax increase bond issue, our families and community made clear their commitment to growing the future of MVR-III and our shared mission that, Together We Can Make a Difference in Doing What’s Best for Kids.

I want each student, staff, family, and community member to know that I share and will live our mission. I share your desire and determination to see our students and district succeed, and I too, have extreme pride in and commitment to our amazing students and school community. I look forward to working with each of you, and know that this will be a great school year indeed!

Your partner in learning,

Dr. Carrie Schwierjohn
