groundbreaking

The Meramec Valley R-III School District (MVR-III) broke ground on November 29 for the Zitzman Elementary addition. The expansion of Zitzman is the largest of the Proposition 1 projects. The addition will include a new main entrance facing Indian Pride Drive as well as four kindergarten and four first grade classrooms, a full size gymnasium that will also serve as a storm shelter, library expansion, along with other safety and accessibility enhancements. The Zitzman project will cost $9,200,000 with a completion date of March 2023.

The District has created a construction traffic safety management plan for the Zitzman Elementary School addition project that started Monday, November 29. Parents of students attending Pacific Intermediate, Doris Hoffman Early Learning Center, and Zitzman Elementary will be affected. The District asks for cooperation to ensure students and staff are safe in the school zone. The plan includes one way traffic on

Indian Pride Drive with drivers having the option to exit onto West Union past the Fire House or drive past Zitzman to make a right onto Payne Street. Additionally, the District has a no entry sign posted at the Zitzman gate on South Indian Pride Drive to keep vehicles from going against the traffic.
