Each year, students in grades fourth through sixth grade compete to participate in the Meramec Valley R-III School District’s Spelling Bee. Students begin by practicing a grade level list of spelling words to compete against their homeroom classmates.

Building level winners met at the Pacific High School auditorium on March 15th to represent their school and face off against other school winners.

District champion Daisy Fern from Zitzman Elementary and Noah Phillips, second place winner from Coleman Elementary went twenty-two rounds to earn their titles for fourth-grade. Charlotte Hendricks from Zitzman, Landon Tollison from Nike, and Rylan Trenholm from Truman, all tied for third place.

The fifth-grade district champion was Piper Roberts, second place winner was Gwen Stricklan, and third place winner was Nathan Kuemmel.

For sixth-grade, the district champion was Jayden Hunley, second place winner was Logan Andrea, and third place went to Addy Willingham.

Congratulations to the 2022 Spelling Bee winners.  Since COVID of 2021, the East Central College regional Spelling Bee has not resumed. However, East Central College is planning to bring back the regional Bee for the spring of 2023.
