Better together. 💜
At Coleman Elementary, acts of kindness and service happen every day in ways both big and small. Older grade teachers help younger students, younger grade teachers step in to support older students, office staff lend a hand in the cafeteria, and our principal and counselors help wherever needed, including custodial tasks.
This small moment became a big moment for a student when a 4th grade teacher sat on the floor to help tape together the work of an upset 2nd grade student. Sometimes the smallest acts of kindness make the biggest difference.

There is always an opportunity to love and learn. 🐢
During a recent recess, Coleman Elementary students discovered a turtle and observed from a safe distance without touching. As they followed along, they connected the moment to perseverance, one of our core words!
When the turtle reached the fence and needed a little help, students worked together with school counselor Ms. Wengler-Gomes to gently create space for it to pass through and return to the tree line.
These small, unplanned moments of caring for living things, learning together, and working as a team leave a lasting impact. 💚

Coleman Elementary and Pacific High School DECA students collected 111 pounds of tab tops this school year to support the Ronald McDonald House. ❤️
When the tabs were delivered, the recycling center hosted a celebration to promote the Ronald McDonald House. Students and staff enjoyed balloon animals, face painting, yard games, food trucks, and more!
It was inspiring to see the impact of this ongoing effort that we were able to support.

Preschoolers in Mrs. Finger’s class at Coleman Elementary recently enjoyed a hands-on day of learning thanks to a gift card from the St. Louis Dairy Council. ❤️
Students explored a variety of dairy products by tasting strawberry yogurt, different types of cheese, and several flavors of milk, even dipping graham crackers into milk!
Afterward, they put their math skills to work by graphing their favorite cheeses and counting which ones they liked and did not like. The activity also encouraged students to use their five senses while learning where dairy products come from.

Students in Mrs. Canada’s 2nd grade class at Coleman Elementary are building collaboration skills while practicing a Kagan learning strategy called Think, Pair, Share. 🤝
They begin by working through answers independently, then partner up to compare their thinking. If their answers match, they move on, and if not, they work together to problem-solve and come to a shared understanding.
Students did a wonderful job demonstrating teamwork and thoughtful communication throughout the activity!
